And i think its funny how a city official protects them with some lame excuse. I'm very sure she answers calls, but also remain proffesional when at work……And yes even though they are unpaid they are still at work.

Forgive me if I'm being a little dense here, but is there really some sort of statute of limitations on "stupidity"?

Has Kentland stated something that I have not heard about regarding some miracle program that should assure the public that the same group of knuckleheads who did these antics in their late twenties, thirties and early forties has somehow "matured" in the last four years?

Give me a break!

Listen. If you uncover a tape of something that someone did in their teens and they are now in their forties, I can see a difference, but a 42 year old sticking fireworks up his buttocks doesn't really mature between being 42 years old and being 46 years old.

Four years ago or not, one vital question remains: What exactly has Kentland done in the last four years to make such a great a difference in the perception of their behavior?

Anything?

I rest my case.

We've seen them snub their nose at the community for years and years when it came to ambulance service. They could run two or three engines, a tower, mini-pumper and several chiefs on calls, but they just didn't have enough staff to put two people on an ambulance. Too bad almost every other station in PG County is able to operate that way with 25% of the members that 33 has,but hey, they're Kentland. I understand why career staff doesn't like them, but what has always puzzled me is why the other volunteer companies tolerate it. Kentland walks around with a holier than thou attitude and made the surrounding companies cover ALL EMS runs in Kentland for decades, oh but don't forget they WERE able to muster up two poor firefighters to put on the Mini-pumper for EVERY EMS call and then count it as a FIRE call. Anybody got a guess why they are the busiest or second busiest engine company in the country. How about EMS calls with a glorified brush truck! Take that away and they are putting up the same numbers as most of the other companies in Prince George's County inside the beltway.

Kentland has some very good firefighters and I don't mean to take away from that. Their accomplishments have certainly been documented. Unfortunately their accountability level in and out of the station is not where it should be, so we will continue to see stories like this in the future. I hope is that they could control it themselves, but they have proven time and time again that won't happen, so now PGFD has to once again step in and be the bad guy because Kentland can't police themselves.

One last question, out of the 40+ stations in Prince George's County, when is the last time you heard about or watched on TV a behavior problem other than Kentland or involving Kentland? I rest my case.
