On Thursday Lesli Foster and I were honored to be a part of the 2009 Prince George’s County Public Safety Valor Awards. The video above includes our silly opening comments and some scenes from the event. It doesn’t include everyone who was honored, but it gives you a sample of those who were recognized for their work during some difficult and life-threatening situations.
To read about all of those who received recognition during the ceremony click here and you will find the script that includes the details of why each award was given.
The final award of the event was given posthumously to Sgt. Richard Findley of the Prince George’s County Police Department who died in the line-of-duty last June. Sgt. Findley was also a member of the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department.

I appreciate the fact that the names that would be difficult to pronounced were spelled phonetically. Nothing more embarrasing than receiving one of your Departments' Highest awards and having your name pronounced wrong.
No award for the super firefighter Jerry Engle? How did P.G. do it without him?
Please, someone buy Jack Johnson a vowel, some "s"s would be nice also. How can this guy speak in public and not be openly laughed at?
Well actually he is openly laughed at.
