You are correct Mr Commissioner. It is not about patriotism…it is about leadership. Something you and the Union chief seem to be sorely lacking here. Clearly, any racially motivated “anything” is worthy of censure beyond discussion. This can only undermine the morale of a unit that is willing to work and die for one another. I feel badly for the attention this has brought to you, your City and State. One should be proud to wear our flag anywhere.

Mr. Commissioner, as a Veteran I must tell you that your decision to have a fellow Veteran remove the U.S. Flag from the outside of his locker is a slap in the face to all of us. I encourage you reconsider your position on this.

You are unbelievable! Since this administration has taken over, Patriotism has become a dirty word and I am sick and tired of it. You go James Krapf, the country is with you. Mr. Commissioner, you need to get a life.

    Commissioner
Do you not OFTEN wonder how we got to this point in this country? If you do not, they then you, among with millions of others, have missed the important points of American history.
I pray that this country and you will one day see the importance of being proud of this country and of voicing that pride in our everyday lives. Until people in leadership positions are willing to step up and say, “you know, he is right, we should be showing our love, respect, and pride for this greatest country in the world. Until that happens, we will flounder as a nation, otherwise we will continue to focus on what divides us and not what unites us….we are AMERICANS!!!

Disgusted former Marine infantryman. The Chief should be punished for imposing such a ridiculous policy that is the true cause of this incident. This rule begs to be broken and only a fool would impose it. I wonder what else this genius has done to improve the morale and unit cohesion within the department? Do the fire trucks have American flags on them as so many do? I will fully support my fellow patriot in this matter and notify all I know to get behind this guy.

THE SYMBOL OF AN AMERICAN FLAG – YOU ARE AWAKENING THE RAGE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO LOVE THIS NATION. SHAME ON YOU, COMMISSIONER!

    Mr. Commissioner,

You served in the Marines? Well, you served in the wrong country then. Demanding an American Flag be taken down demonstrates a very anti-American attitude.

If you really hate America and Patriotism, then may I suggest moving either to Russia or Cuba.

The flag is a symbol of this country. It should be proudly flown/shown–and in this case it was. For this Chief to tell this VETERAN firefighter, who fought bravely for the country that this flag represents, to take this flag down is shameful.

It is time for the Mayor of the city to remove this Fire Chief. He obviously is not a leader of men. He is a bigot.

Get him off the payroll and lets make sure that no one else hires him.

    Mr. Commissioner,
I’m sitting down now to explain to my child — yet again — that our nation is not one of rules. Our leaders simply cannot bear the burden of leading. American culture — which ironically is what your decision to ALLOW flag stickers caters to — simply doesn’t support rules any longer.

Leaders like you, and those who support you on this decision, fail to make the hard decisions — hence, you do not lead.

You fail to actually ENFORCE THE RULES out of fear that someone who changes the subject will actually out-maneuver in the court of public opinion.

Rather than simply, boldly state “this rule discriminates against stickers not countries, pride or patriotism” you cave. Shame on you and shame on a country that has so few true leaders.

The subject is/was stickers, not patriotism. You lose — and so does our country, so do our kids.

James Johnson, that was a dumb move. Your actions are offensive. Shame on you.

Those who think this is just about blindly followiing the leader no matter what cliff he/she is leading towards should recognize that this is a nation whose forefathers spoke of inalienable rights given by God and that our nation was founded on the belief that right or wrong is not defined by men but by God. Just as the nazi soldiers who obeyed their leaders in the murder of millions were wrong there sometimes comes a time when a people have to stand up and say that the orders their leaders give are wrong no matter their divinely appointed place as leaders.

It is sad that the country that we live in is being destroyed a little bit at a time by “rules & regulations” like this. It is garbage and may God help you when you need men like James Krapf
to help you and they are nowhere to be found thanks to “men” like you.
    Go James Krapf!
