Oh how many times have I seen this go both ways. I was both sides of the fence for 30 years and I will always be a Vollie at heart. I worked for the Vollies in a Vollie Corp. I remember well where I came from. I think it is neat what happened to the paid puke. Maybe now he can go to D.C. if he wants to work fo an all paid dept. Let him whine and cery there then maybe the homeless etc. can p on him. Grow up thw Vollies have carried this county for many years!!

Except for the three Career/Paid Captain(s), all of the other Career/Paid Fire Personnel assigned to Burtonsville Fire Station 15 are and remain there by choice. Vacancies at other Fire Rescue Stations and the opportunity(s) to transfer out are, and have been, frequent; I, along with the other Career Firefighters assigned to Station 15 choose to work there, myself. The BVFD adequately trains their personnel, staffs their equipment (buys their own equipment, too), does the housework, cooks dinner, etc…The Volunteer who dresses up like Santa every year is Jewish, for cryin out loud!…the paid guys really do have a good Fire house to work at and I think the Captains dont appreciate the situation ….this recent event is disappointing to all. The Volunteer Management has responded appropriately, given the circumstances. We know where we’ve been, we know where we are. Lets move forward. See you at the BVFD “Holiday” Party.

The facts are clear and unfortunately the citizens don’t realize the actual truth. Opinions like “worse” things have happened do not excuse a lesser (although being urinated on by some might be enticing) discretion. The volunteers in Montgomery provide less than 15% of the service. That is fact. Probably 10% of that are chiefs ie. Batt. Chief 715A thru Z. Local 36 should be ashamed of all their members vol. in other jurisdictions and claim to adhere to IAFF guidelines. Why aren’t we volunteering in Washington D.C. This would be a great program and I know many live ins that Burtonsville/D.C. chiefs could train. It is unfortunate that we have come to this juncture but times have changed and the poor man’s country club is due to be gone. We now have a storefront recruiting station, and overpaid ($120,000/yr.) volunteer recruiter and career hater, and a volunteer bureacracy that continues to soak it’s citizens rather than deliver the necessary product it professes it is delivering. It is no wonder the volunteer of the year is a Local 36 member. HMMMMMMMMM!

All I am asking is what does this have to do with the story in question. I realize that every story on here somehow degenerates in career vs. volunteer but at least it usually follows some sort of path. I thought this may be about a (possibly) underage girl at the firehouse, a drunk girl at the firehouse, a guest in the firehouse after hours, someone asleep being urinated on but obviously I am going to have to go back and re-read the story as it would seem it is a blatent attempt by the career guys to discredit those hardworking dedicated volunteers.
