AS fun as this looks I find it very irresponsible to put a video of reckless and illegal behavior like this on Youtube while dressed as the Firefighters representing that community. If I was a resident I would be furious with that sort of behavior. But don’t worry guys I don’t live there so carry on.

Interesting, you can clearly here the crew acknowledging they have “another call” and stating the name of the street (Sheraton St.). Doesn’t seem like the numerous people in/on the vehicle are particularly concerned about the unconscious person they were dispatched for.

Look back through the illustrious Statter911 files for Riverdale. Nothing surprises me with that place anymore.

I expect everyone who is willing to risk their life for the sake of another to be on their best behavior 100% of the time. No fun for them. They should be studying ‘Principles of Firefighting’ and first due maps every minute they’re awake. When it snows they should stay indoors, until an emergency call is made, to avoid catching a cold, not go outside and enjoy weather we rarely get here in Maryland. I hope these so called firemen are hung out to dry and never get the chance again to drop what they are doing, leave their family for hours at a time, leave ‘reality’ behind, and do a job very few are mentally or physically capable of doing.

Sense my sarcasm and get a life, douche bags.

sure and I bet no one with a patch was involved in this. Are you sure you want to bet. How many other departments do this? or HAVE done this. These guys were just dumb enough to post it let alone TAG IT. Next time make it private for friends. Didn’t we learn anything from European Vacation? Tapes that are made are bound to end up in the hands of someone who isn’t suppose to have it.

Just another example of children having fun at the expense of the taxpayer. I am sure if someone was injured or killed, Workmen’s Comp would be footing the bill for it. Riverdale is nothing more than a frat house for inbreds.

Except for the lack of a reflective safety vest, what’s the problem.???

PPEs don’t cost the taxpayer that much.

Was it an FD vehicle doing the towing.???
I hope so cause it has emergency lights should there be any traffic blocking their fun.

And the taxpayers should be happy that the FD is out on patrol.!!!

WOW, as for the call they had a ambulance crew for the call. 1619 members are just as guilty as this I seen a number of you this weekend doing the same thing. Apparently you guys forget about having fun. Now stop being so uptight and go throw a snowball at someone.

I am confused on how they wasted the tax payers dollars I think they actually saved them since they where there for FREE. So you so called career professionals until you come down on your free time and work for free dont worry about what the volunteers.

Well lets see where to start here. There was an ambulance call. And yes the VOLUNTEERS from Riverdale did take the ambulance call. The VOLUNTEERS from Riverdale were running three crews for most of the weekend. The sled was being pulled by a private truck. Yes they were wearing some protective gear. Yes they were having a little fun in the snow. Nobody got hurt and nothing got damaged but I guess that is of no concern to anybody. No calls went unanswered by the VOLUNTEERS at Riverdale.

career, volunteer???? that is ripe. I do not think anyone on the “career professional” side of the house should be pointing any fingers at the “volunteer” side if they had read all the articles on Statter911 today. The professional have a few skeletons with lying, cheating, selling drugs, and wasting dollars also.
Of cousre we should all work to clean up unsafe acts and be professional. Oh and stop throwing stones

I guess the fuel the apparatus runs on and the wear and tear on the apparatus is paid for out of the pockets of the Riverdale VFD. As far as the rest of you cretins that think this is nothing more than fun, go ask DC, Montgomery, Faifax, or Howard how many of their stations did this using emergency vehicles. In fact, if any of those involved were 2 hatters, ask them would they have done this if they were working at their career jobs. I bet the answer would be “no, they don’t tolerate this stuff where I work, it would get me put on charges or suspended”. As for the person who thinks this cost the taxpayers nothing, I guess if one of them had been severly injured or killed, that wouldn’t have cost the taxpayers anything would it.

You know, One of you could have been doing this when you were young. Just because they are firefighters doesn’t mean you have to say inapropriate things about them. They have done their job, by helping the comunity. What have you done??? You could have better things to do then sit around and start problems with the fire dept.

Hey Mike, if you have been in Riverdale and have seen how strict it is you wouldn’t say it was a frat house for inbreds. The only inbred is you so stop saying stuff. They are doing there jobs of protecting you. You could have better things to do than start problems with the fire dept. Just because they want to have some fun once in a while doesn’t mean you have to flip out. When you were kids, you probably did stuff like that too. They didn’t hurt anyone. So what is the porblem?!?!?!?!?!?

Mike, you spelled Fairfax wrong. Your the only hater. So let it be. It isn’t going to kill you, if they were out ridding sleds. Second of all, it wasn’t an emergancy vehicle. It was a member’s truck.

You know what, they said it wasn’t a dep. Vehicle it was a private truck. So don’t talk about fd equipment. And I know peopl in moco and they all did this also, and last time I rember pg also fights the fires so go back to moco mike and watch the house become a parking lot. And if yall know anything about riverdale there was no1 there at night driving around. And they still ran all of their calls and never scratched that night or even got called more than once on dispatch. And if anyone saw out there the fricken army was having fun also doing crazy stuff with the humvees. And I know that they were so grow up and get off of their case.

I guess if those involved are “bright” enough to do this (and post it on the WWW), then it’s understandable why this same bunch (of “bright” people) have an infant/toddler in the back of that same pickup truck at whatever hour it was during a snowstorm/blizzard barreling around the neighborhood. I imagine if there would have been an accident involving this truck speeding around during a snow storm, the “bright” people in the back would have been able to keep the infant from being ejected and/or hurt. Another 3 cheers for RVFD! A side note to the chiefs of Riverdale VFD (and any other VFD reading)… Sometimes…actually, all the time, it’s better for your organization to have just a hand full of professional, dedicated, and well behaved members, than running out and trying to recruit every Tom, Dick, and Harry to fill the seats on the apparatus. Massive recruiting ALWAYS leads to a percentage of undesireables getting in and ruining it for everyone (inspite of background checks). Not a sermon, just a thought…

Yes two FORMER members of Riverdale, as well as Kentland, Bladensburg, Riverdale Heights, and Montgomery County, are under indictment. But the key word here is FORMER.

They were riding on a sled being pulled by a private truck. Nobody was hurt, nothing was damaged, and no citizens were put in danger at all. But at least they were in a block of the station having their fun instead of just saying “Hey lets leave the station without staffing and go sledding”. Or just not be there at all.

When one put on their turnouts to go “play” in the snow…

God forbid some people get together and drive 5 miles an hour with a sled attached to the back of their truck in a big circle near their firehouse. People today have forgotten where they come from and are so worried about screwing other people that they’ll say the most ridiculous things. Sledding down a friggin hill is more dangerous than what they’re doing in this video, give me a break.

And just to put all of your minds at ease. The infant in the back of the truck was NOT in the truck while it was moving. He was taken out of the truck before it ever moved. He was sitting in the truck with his older brother for a few minutes before the ride even started. And it was not at some god awful time of the night in the middle of a blizzard. It was at 6pm and it was no longer blizzard conditions.

But because it was a bunch of volunteers engaged in some harmless fun it was wrong and a disgrace to the fire department. And I’m sure none of the fine career fire fighters have ever done anything that could be a disgrace to the fire department. Just go to the MD tournament and look at these paid professional fire fighters do there.

Anonymous that may be true about the MD tournament, but at least those people aren’t saying “were protecting the community for free, so can’t we have some fun? In fact, a lot of the professional firefighters that are there “disgracing the department” are problably some of your two hatter members.

seems like a pretty simple situation to me. I’ve done what these people did, its fun, and especially if you dont get that kind of snow you’d want to go out and do it.

However, you wear your turnout gear to go play in the snow and then post that video online with a title of “what bored firefighters do when it snows”, you bring the fact that you are firefighters and part of the FD into the picture. Now it isn’t just some people playing in the snow, its a bunch of stupid firemen who make all of us look bad.
