Our friends at FireSceneAudio.com have been cranking them out in recent days. On this page are three parts of the audio from this evening’s garden-apartment building fire in Montgomery County, Maryland. The fire was reported around 8:20 PM in the 10,200 block of Georgia Avenue at the Manor apartments in the Aspen Hill area. More than a half-dozen apartments were gutted and one 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital suffering smoke inhalation.
Important note – Make sure you listen to the exchange on Part 3 at 3:20. It goes something like this:
Command- “Command to Rescue Squad 703 evacuate that rood immediately. Do you copy?”
Rescue Squad 703- “703 copies.”
Command- “Command to Rescue Squad 703 I need to know when you are off the roof.”
Rescue Squad 703- “Roof to Command. We are off the roof. Roof is just collapsing.”

If anyone needs help with pets, please contact the Montgomery County Humane Society, 240-773-5900 for emergencies concerning animals in distress
one of the most organized fire ground operations I have heard.
sounded like a very well executed event. I am impressed as a former chief
In reading the comments I am highly impressed by Montgomery County Professionalism in Fireground Operations. It is quite clear that MCFRS strictly adheres to Firefighter Safety Everybody Goes Home. The ICS was in place with an excellent job of Directing resources and Managing the Incident. With Bitter Cold weather Conditions the integrity of the Structure apparently compromised by Fire/Fire Spread. The MCFRS System is based and enforced with strict Firefighter Safety procedures. One thing that is for certain Chief Bowers his Command Staff and the rank and file Firefighters/Paramedics
realize the absolute importance of not having Free Lance Hose Jockeys with no Respect for Fire/Fire Spread. Listening to the audio one can only believe the maximizing of the resources was in good and safe operations. Good Job Well Done by MCFRS.
Thank you
4 Alarms to put out a garden apartment fire?…this was less fire than PG handled two day before with 3 alarms and only 10 people on the first alarm….good job….good job…what does that even mean? I guess sounding good while you do dumb stuff is important?
The previouscomment obviously speaks for unwanted ignorant juvenile opinion. The Good Job means the Incident was Managed/Handled with Firefighter Safety provedures ads the focus. No one was injured, Civilians were safe. The Good Job means that MCFRS was demonstrating their Training Throught actual emergency scene operations. I donot recall any criticism
or negative remarks how PGFD Managed/handled those Multiple Alarm Fires. I do recall something from the Union concerning the Staffing of Responding Units. Ok it is a know fact that Staffing is a distinct issue within PGFD. Typical Union response. The Multiple Alarm Fires both in Montgomery County and Prince Georges County were pretty much handled with Firefighter Safety. One can only believe there is/will b e a Critique/After Action Report to bring about any concerns that will be Trained to improve both Public Safety Departments. There wasn’t anything perfect in any of these Fire Incidents. There is always room for Improvement. “It is called In Service Training” Both Practical Evolutions/Classroom Discussions.
Thank You
That addresses several of my conercns actually.
