Based on the description provided in the various posts and articles about this event, it is likely that this was either a vent induced flashover or backdraft. It is less likely that this was a smoke (fire gas) explosion as this phenomena involves ignition of mixture of excess pyrolizeate and flammable products of combustion that is pre-mixed with air and within its flammable range. This generally occurs somewhat remote from the fire area or after fire control. While some in the fire service use smoke explosion and backdraft synonymously, these these terms are used in fire dynamics to identify different phenomena.
