IL Chicago John Brooks

Sun-Times photo by Scott Stewart.

“I have never sexually harassed any woman or man in my life. I do not proposition women. I don’t have to. Women usually proposition me. God has blessed me like that.”

I wonder what advice TheFirePIO.com’s Jeff Bressler would have for this one. An interesting reaction from Chicago Fire Commissioner John Brooks over allegations that he sexually harassed a former fire department auditor. Brooks is taking some time off “to stay out of the way” as the previously stalled investigation gets moving again. Read more in the Chicago Sun-Times article by Fran Spielman and Fank Main.

What a burden it must be to walk in his shoes. I guess when he is sitting in the strip club with a wad of twenties in his hand, he is indeed irresistible to the opposite sex.

I suggest that Commissioner Brooks contact Clayton Williams. Mr. Williams was running for governor of the best state in the Union, Texas, when he made a now infamous comment about what to do when you are being raped.

My guess is that Commissioner Brooks didn’t get to deploy his line much during his rookie years, and is attempting to rewrite his own personal history. My experience with firehouse swordsmen is that the really good ones rarely brag, they have other people telling stories about them.

WOW! That’s all I can muster right now. It makes one wonder how someone like this actually rose through the ranks to become commissioner. Just the simple act of keeping your mouth shut can do wonders!

I hope this guy gets sued for everything he owns and looses his job. What a disgrace.
