A tragedy for the Carey family, the Elias family, and the Homewood Fire Department. Firefighter Carey courageously sacrificed his life in the line of duty. You are in our prayers, the CFD and Ignite the Spirit. http://cfdblaze.com/2010/03/brian-carey-homewood-firefighter/

Dave,

This is a very tragic loss for Homewood and all involved with this incident. After watching the video it reminded me of a structure fire I was at two years ago where the residence exploded due to stored oxygen tanks. The neighbor they interviewed said she heard "popping" noises and saw intense fire. That is VERY similar to what happened in our incident before the subsequent explosion took the roof off the dwelling hurling me and my partner into the front yard.

Dave, a video of that fire and explosion was out on the web somewhere. If you could find it and post it I think it would be a great learning tool. The fire I mentioned was in Savannah,GA in December of 2007 and the departments involved included Southside Fire/EMS and 7th District Volunteer Fire Rescue... I hope that info. helps.

And most of all rest in peace brother...

This is a tremendous loss for the family of the fireman, and the community of Homewood. My prayers go out to the family that owned the house, the firefighters involved, and the homewood station as they confront their loss. Brian was a hero in a world that doesn't have many real ones...
