From WUSA9.com:

One person is dead after a commercial “Wolf’s” bus has overturned under the northbound sky ramp onto the I-270 spur, according to officials.

Fire rescue spokesman Captain Oscar Garcia tells 9 News Now that the accident happened at about 4:02 pm, and at northbound lanes of 270 spur between Rockledge and Montrose roads.

Garcia says the preliminary information is that the bus went off an area of the sky ramp.

Garcia says crews on the scene are assessing 10-15 patients, at least two or three that have serious, life threatening injuries.

I’m not saying this was the cause of why the driver of this bus slumped over the wheel, but too many commercial vehicle operators from dump trucks to buses are extremely overweight. Passengers buses, as I saw today, are too many times operated by overweight 50 plus individuals. Not that people over 50 aren’t entitled to work, but if your not in good physical condition, your jeopardizing your passengers lives, let alone your own….

What about the other 10,000 drivers out there on 495, 270, 95 , that are overweight and over 50 years old ?? They drive these roads every single day and don’t require the special license that the truck and bus drivers have.
Go find a job Hookman and stay out of jail.

Fairfax guy…instead of being obsessed with me, try focusing on the subject matter. I know it must bring you great relief, as you log on to confront me..Doing so enables you to become an instant internet tough guy because you have the ability to not only create a name, but to hide behind it as well. The internet has become a stomping ground for the weak and inept, as people like you would never have the kahonnies to confront me personally with your whines and cries of how ive hurt your insides or tell me what I should or shouldn’t be doing. I’m sure if I came to your home and took the modem out of your computer, we would have plenty to discuss on here…

Back to the subject matter…people who are overweight and drive commercial vehicles are a danger on the roads…How they pass there DOT physical is beyond me. I think obtaining your driver license as well as renewing it, should require an individual to take a physical….However, this particular person could have had a rare emergency that could have happened to anyone..This is life and anything can happen….

But im sure an EMS guy like you is in tip top physical condition and being a hazard on the road doesnt really matter to a street warrior like yourself….with that said, don’t forget to lookout for overhead obstructions when raising the aerial ladder…Oh wait you drive the ambulance….never mind…..no need to obtain a CDL for that…well that’s if you could pass the test…

And don’t waste to much of your time worrying about me or my place of employment boo, ill be fine…..if you don’t believe me come visit me in the United States District Court of the District of Columbia soon and you might learn a thing or two. And after its said and done and your nice too me, I might be able to swing you a loan when your down on your luck….Hmmm $21 million can buy alot of stuff…until then, go wash your ambulance EMS guy….

Well let me add my two cents worth. While I have not always agrred with the hookman “very few times actually’ he is completely on the money about this. I have always kept up my CDL since I retired from the FD. I have to pass a DOT Physical every two years to keep it. There should be weight restrictions. Everyone should have to go thru a routine physical to get their D.L renewed. Over the years I had two drivers that I made them ride the buckets for fear they would collapse while driving. After being on a hose line a few times and one passing out twice they soon went on a much needed diet. If people want to be 50-100 pounds overweight fine. But they should be taking public transportation with a certified driver that is not overweight and no risk of putting everyone in harms way. Just my thought for the day..
