Evangelyn Code told ABC2 that Lutherville VFC Firefighter Mark Falkenhan rescued her from her third floor apartment during Wednesday night’s fire.
“I was getting ready to jump and he asked me please don’t jump, I’m coming to you with a ladder and he came over with a ladder,” said Code.
She returned to the apartment complex Thursday and told reporter Brian Kuebler:
“He was my hero but I feel bad about what happened, I really do. Knowing he was a volunteer firefighter and leaves his two children, his wife….I feel bad.”

Dave,
Thanks to you and Billy G. for keeping us updated on this situation. Last I checked there was nothing at all on the County Fire Dept web page or the Balt Co IAFF web site. Not sure what the deal is with that. As I understand it he was a retired member of Local 1311? http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/fire/index.html
I think that the apt. bulding should be torn down and a park put there in the honor of fallen “Firefighter Mark Falkenhan”
He made the ultimate sacrifice in giving his life for his friend.
the word hero is thrown around way too much in today’s media. but mr. falkenhan is a real hero.
Where can I mail a card to his family? I tried to search it on Yahoo, but to no avail.
I would appreciate any help someone may provide.
God Bless his sweet heart.Ble
