This is from a house fire yesterday in Murphy, Texas. Well worth taking the time to watch the video and listening to the radio traffic. The video is from the Parker FD's Truck 1. Below is a different view shot by a citizen. The neighbor's video says this was on High Point and the house had been struck by lightning.

I don't know what you would see or hear if you watched the top video in the post but I do know that it didn't take long for someone to pull it down off YouTube.

Please tell me this is a police hostage situation or something to cause such a slow reaction!  If the top video that was removed was as sad as the bottom video I see why it was removed.  Where or where is the sence of urgency!  again.  I don't know how long  the rig sat there before the camera started to roll but it was almost a minuet while they stood there putting on their air pack, other things and started to walk towards the house, with no urgency!  Their an engine company and not stretching? even a back up line if they are 2nd due?  If this was us performing this way the chief would have the crew and I writing letters and out training, training, tranining, training, and more training…..  WOW  WTF!!!!  Come one man this is your profession and we are supose to be good at what we do!    Strike the BOX!  K

I normally don’t comment on operational issues on the fireground because it has been so long since I have had anything to do with it. I figure there is little credibility in what I have to say. But since this has been pulled I will give you a run down of what I saw in a very quick glance at the video. My impression is that this was not a particularly bad one. When the truck company arrived there was already a line inside hitting the fire. Another crew (not sure which crew it was) grabbed a line that had already been stretched and went in and joined them. My big question was about someone throwing ladders and as I was thinking that while watching it, command brought up that point on the radio and made mention of throwing some ladders to the second floor for firefighter safety. The fire seemed to go out pretty quickly. My point is, while I am sure it wasn’t perfect (they rarely are), I don’t think this was a video that would have you screaming WTF at your computer. But then again, what the hell do I know?

Maybe the initial video has been seized as evidence. And the cops made him pull it down.

Or removed for the safety and privacy issues present.

Or the cameraman was arrested for being too close.

I could be mistaken, but I think your judgment is pretty good Dave. Nice try at humility though.

What concerns me the most here is the amount of hose that appears to be laid out in a large massive ball in the front yard. Apparently they have never read the NIOSH report on Oscar Armstrong from Cincinnati who perished in a fire due to  various factors, including a poor stretch of an in-ordinately long cross-lay.
I believe all went well at this job and I am surprised the video was pulled. While this forum can be harsh (to put it midly) we can always learn something from criticism, be it constructive, sarcastic, mean spirited, far fetched, rude, stupid…………

I guess you really don't need Ladders! Why would you need them anyway its not like a collapse of any type would trap the fellas in a room cutting off their means of egress.
