Fire destroyed a home on Monday at 2128 Trego Creek Road in the Chllicothe, Ohio area. According to the Chillicothe Gazette, "Franklin and Scioto township fire departments responded". The description say this video was shot by Stephen Zupi, EMT-I/ FF.
And this is apparently another fire department that hires a band to play at all their fires.

Helmet cams make me seasick!! LOL!
Looked like a looser anyway you slice it but why to you open the front door when there is no hose line ready to go? You call that spreading the fire. Number 2 how far away did they park the Engine…. not even in site…. enough said…. Strike the Box! K
If only fire suppression was made as much of a priority as EMS in this community and the fire engine had the response time of the ambulance to this fire, these people would still have a house…
How long was this ambulance crew on scene before an engine arrived? And speaking of engine, where did they park it, 1/2 mile down the road?
Strike the box!
When there is no water there could / should be Stat-X. Granted, some fires may be too far gone, but others maybe not: http://statx.com/First_Responder.asp
bring a ambo to a fire call as first due, is like bringing a police car to transport a medical patient! time to stop bing gun ho an running around opening doors with no water an just wait for the right equipment.
How about when you get water, crawl into the doorway and continue crawling and knocking down fire until it's out.
At 2:31 he looks down the driveway, and you can see that the ambo has been moved, probably after they realized that they had blocked out the engine…
hey man never too safe, good call being on air in the front yard you never wanna get too close to an IDLH atmosphere without proper SCBA and PPE, 20 yard minimum and you should bottle up. only negative i see here is he is putting a little too much effort into swingin that stream around, need to watch that. sprains and strains SHOULD NOT be a part of this job. you actually hurt yourself while on scene and that is dangerous to you, and others on scene… gotta stay healthy to better serve our customers and sweet pistol grip bro!!!
I was not at this fire but do have some limited background on it. This was in Scioto Township in Ross County. Scioto Twp fire dept is a paid per call department running
out of two stations and averaging around 1,500 calls a year give or take. Scioto runs fire and Ems.
Now onto this run. On this call the ambulance was on it’s way back from dropping off a pt. at the local hospital when this call came in. They were on scene within 3 minutes of the call with the ambulance. The reason an engine isn’t close to the residence is because of the homemade bridge at the end of the resident’s driveway. Some of the homes on Trego creek road cross a creek by either driving thru, most with inclines on both sides too steep for an engine’s approach and departure angle, or by homemade bridge. Often made out of railroad “rails” or I-beans buried on wither side of the
Creek and 2″x8″s or 2″x12″s ran parrrellel with the creek/perpindicular to the rails or beams.
For the tactics, I won’t comment as I wasn’t there. Hope this answers a couple of the response questions.

Shake it more than twice and you're playing with it…….
Jpatterson,
Thanks for providing FACTS.
The bridges you describe are in use at various southern Ohio homes. They can bite you if your not careful and watching.
Why are some bickering. In Chillicothe where this was filmed. We are facing a serious crises with the fact that 2 firefighters have or will lose their jobs. We need everyone of you. I would ask that you support each other across the States, from firehouse to firehouse. Myself was rescued by Firefighters/EMT's while I was having a Heart attack last thursday night. I of course was sooooo thankfull and thesetwo men and one woman revived the call before me too. I hope this helps in knowing that us Civilians care for you guys and we respect all you do just to have those positions. The one fellar trying one-upmanship is so easy to see through. Just shut up and be of help. Thanks for allowing me to have my say.
I, like many on the same department on this schmuck are disappointed that this happened. It is NOT something we encourage nor do we teach. I don't know what was going through his head that made him open a door without an engine on the scene. Clearly nothing, as usual. As for the engine, it was parked so far away because of the bridge as someone else said. As some of you know, when in the Volunteer Fire Service you sometimes get people like this that join. They know everything without training, and don't care to listen to instruction. Sad thing is, this Firefighter was and still is in his Level 2 Fire Class. And for those of you who don't know how Ohio is… Level 2 Is Career Trained. It makes me SICK to know that someone on our department would/could be this stupid. This issue has been delt with (and currently still being thrown at him with every chance). It was STUPID.
Anyone have any room for another FF.
