The Baltimore Firefighters Union, IAFF Local 734 posted the clip above that includes fireground audio and video from yesterdays dwelling fire in the 800 block of Druid Park Lake Drive. Here’s the description from the union’s website:
Just before 3:30 pm on April 6, 2012, Fire Communications alerted Box Alarm 52-2 for a reported dwelling on fire in the 800 block of Druid Park Lake Drive, West Baltimore. Some units had to take alternate routes due to a double shooting at W North Avenue and McCulloh Street. First arriving companies reported an end of group dwelling with heavy fire showing. Battalion Chief 3 arrived, reported fire on the 1st & second floors of a three story dwelling. A working fire was transmitted, bringing additional units to the scene. A few moments later, fire began to penetrate the roof and engulf the third floor. Battalion Chief 3 at that moment ordered a defensive attack due to the integrity of the building. Crews used monitor pipes, large hand lines and ladder pipes to pour water on the fire from a safe distance. The Fire Investigation Bureau has the fire under investigation and no injuries were reported.

That’s a nice effect: scrolling through pictures of the units as the dispatched runs them down. Liked the map, too.
Two questions… Who will be the second due truck to this area once 10 truck is shut down? And who wears the yellow helmets in BCFD?
In Baltimore City currently, yellow helmets are probationary EMT/FFs. At the end of their year when they finish thier ‘rookie’ book they are issued a black helmet.
it’s a shame the way the brothers and sister’s are being treated in BCFD,FOR ALL THE ‘CRAP’THAT gets shoved down their throats, they still do ‘their job’and do it well even though the ‘morale’is at a all time low, stay low, stay low,so we all go home!
To address the second half of anon’s questiion surrounding Truck Co’s of T15 are T1-T3-T5-T20-T26, only communications will know for certain who will get what when they re-configure the Box alarm assignments. Just remember nothing is definate till the doors.are.closed.and the lights are turned off on July 1, the closing of compainies are just a proposal at this time.

too bad the bcfd flows water through windows instead of going in and getting it
Hey Brother,
Don’t even go there, anytime you want to talk fire come on down…. ftm-ptb
Seriously? Were you watching the same video as the rest of us? That place was a death trap. Quit trying to stir s**t. Great job by Balto City.
You’re either trolling, or know nothing about size up. But you can go right in (like its really gonna happen) if you want to. I’ll hold the door for you. The sunlight shining through the exposure building windows, and the temporary construction fence around the place tell me to slow my roll a little bit.
Nice job BCFD.
Wow, drivin, you’re an idiot. Did you actually watch the video and listen to the audio? They had crews inside that they pulled out after they confirmed it was abandoned. The bravo exposure had no remaining floors or roof. It only took a little bit of knowledge to realize that the audio and video weren’t synched up. You’re a tool.
“drive”…did you not read the story?
Drive is probably some village idiot that has no familiarity with the inside of a burning building. The tactics used were proper and sound-why kill yourself for a vacant building when the city shits all over fire department.
damn during opening day
After hearing enough local idiots talking about us “morons” who take rigs, especially ladders off-road, it is refreshing to see a big city outfit do just that when needed.
Nice job, troops.
