This is video by Joe DiThomas of a fire yesterday evening at an at least partially vacant (news stories conflict) commercial structure in New Castle, Pennsylvania (Lawrence County). During the operation a collapse occurred trapping a firefighter. In the video above DiThomas captures firefighters rushing to the trapped firefighter’s aid and immediately below he is removed from the building to the cheers of onlookers. No word on the firefighter’s condition.
At the bottom is a third video by DiThomas and news coverage.
Flames tore through the building located at 102 East Washington Street. When firefighters arrived on scene the building was fully engulfed.
Officials said a portion of the structure did collapse and one firefighter was trapped inside.
The building is the Old Hudson Lunch Building, was partially vacant, with no one inside when the fire broke out. Many New Castle residents lined the streets watching the firefighters battle the blaze.
A resident called the 911 center at 8:06 p.m. Sunday to report the structure fire at 102 E. Washington St. When New Castle firefighters responded moments later, the building was fully engulfed. It then collapsed, the dispatcher said.
New Castle firefighters called firefighters from the Shenango and Union fire departments to help battle the blaze, the dispatcher said.

So whos the yahoo in the blue tshirt in the collapse zone? Turnout gear…it aint just for looks.
hes the chief
Yet another one filed under “what not to do”, thanks to the Keystone Cops………….
The firefighter suffered minor injuries and is okay. The building was a vacant structure. Yes that is the Chief in the blue shirt and he was never issued gear. The Chief is more of a figure head then a decision maker. The Asst. Chiefs usually run th show.
he has full set of gear and not just a figure head bin on the department over 40yrs
