I don’t get what happened after the first part where it looks like they have the fire knocked down. Did I hear them say they were out of water? How many times did that happen at his incident?

Wow! Lehigh Acres is a very densely populated area of single family homes. Wonder what happened to their water supply?

Somebody please let us in on the secret. What happened here. Fire appears to be out and then it takes off. Are there no hydrants in the area. Put the water on the red stuff please!

Why is one ff with one hose line trying to put out the garage as many other ff walk by. Must be watching Highland Park training videos to see how few personel can be used.

I’m hoping there were extenuating circumstances and that they aren’t really this bad. Painful to watch. Please leave your gear in the office on the way out.

Sorry to say, but based on other Lehigh Acres videos we’ve seen, they really do appear to be this bad.
It’s always incredibly painful to watch a FD be surprised by water supply issues in their own town.

Mack Seagrave thanks for the other videos. This one in particular is pretty funny as the advancing “yard” fire chases the firefighter back. LMAO

Prime example of why Positive Pressure Ventilation should not be used until all visible fire is knocked and the walls and ceilings are opened and all fire is extinguished. Sad Sad Sad, I have to say, calling the Fire Dept. to this fire actually made things worse.

I never thought I would ever leave a comment. But I cannot help it. This video should be a lesson on how to never, ever, ever act and perform on the fireground. The only thing I can guess is all firefighter’s in this video were on their very first day. Prior to going to their fire academy. Shocking.

Seriously you are confused as to how something like this could happen? This is CLEARLY a misuse of PPV and a PERFECT example of a Wind Driven Fire, created by the Fire Department. Time to smarten up and change thoughts and tactics. One can not continue to live and operate in the past. As for the rest of it…. the video speaks for itself. Very embarrassing, enough said!

It really is all about water supply sometimes…. of course that is predicated upon the idea that the water will be applied in an effective way.

Wilson you are totally right, if you had water supply issues which i have a hard time believing. Why in the hell would you put a fan in the door? Putting PPV in the door or window before you have the fire out and walls and ceilings open is just retarded and you will have a new parking lot in your area for sure.

I have to say after reading all of the comments and remembering my firefighting days I feel sorry for the community they do not know what they have to deal with. This department is a joke all of them need to go to firefighting school including the chief, training officer on down. I’m glad that I do not live in that area.

I realize that I say this frequently, but after viewing many videos of the L.A.F.D. (Lehigh) in action it is clear that extensive ‘Bread and Butter’ traing is needed for the entire department from the top down. Generally the toughest part is convincing the chiefs, officers and senior firefighters to abandon their tradition of improper practices and buy into training to do the job correctly.

At the 4:15 mark in the video, is that the command post under the bucket of the tower?

    WTH was that?

Do they not have hydrants or water tenders?

Have they never thought of moving in towards the fire and extinguishing it?

What were they doing? This video made my head hurt.

I feel for the taxpayers in this community, they are NOT getting their moneys worth from these guys.

Strike out the box K,,,,,,is that right?

    @ “Shhh… says …”‘s comment:

No, that’s not the command post, Command is just taking cover from all the rocks being throw at him.

Classic line : at the 2:30 mark “You outta water?”, “No, I’m good, I’m just waiting for it…”

Waiting for what ? The fire to burn itself out ?

And Lehigh saves another basement. Wait, not too many basements in Florida.

    OK, they save the slab……maybe.

Do these guys ever extinguish a fire before the structure is destroyed? Do they ever knock a fire before the fuel is used up?

I have had the displeasure of running with departments like this in the past. Their method of “knocking” a fire usually consisted of sticking a nozzle in the window of the fire room, whipping it around and calling it good. 5-10 minutes later, the result would be the same as we see above. This dept had a lot of old school FF’s that never went interior. They even told us once that “you can’t go in there, there’s smoke in there”. My partner and I could have been knocked over with a feather. This, while they were watering the shingles making sure the fire continued unabated in the attic and would burn from the inside out. Anyways…….

For the PPV naysayers. Your ignorance is showing. Had these idiots performed vertical ventilation, the result would have been the same. The problem is not the fan, the problem is the total lack of anyone on this department having a freaking clue on how to extinguish a fire. Because it is obvious these jackwagons have never heard of overhaul. Or saving property. Or doing anything but looking like fools on Youtube. PPV is a sound tool to use, if used properly. You should probably inform Chicago that they wasted their money on that truck mounted fan.

Finally, I really like how at the beginning the kneeling\praying FF is 30′+ from the fire, but when the entire structure is well involved, these guys get right next to the involved structure. No attempt is made at putting it out, but they get close to it.

As I watched around the 4 minute mark, all I could say is “Why are they not putting water on the FIRE?! They already had one entire garage door open, but instead of moving crap out of the way and getting in there and getting the fire, they let the fire retake the building while they wet down the other garage door and practiced some saw work! ???
