This is a fire from Monday at 84 West Harrison in Piedmont, West Virginia (Mineral County). News reports indicate one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion. Here’s part of the description with the video:
Crews attacked the fire interior with fire in the walls. Conditions on the second floor deteriorated quickly as fire moved throughout the walls and into the attic. Crews worked for approx. 45 minutes for control of the fire. A combination of interior and exterior work stopped the fires advance through the entire duplex.

It is hard to tell but from the camera angle, it did not look to be a baloon frame construction If it was, I understand loosing the battle like that.
Ladder placement was marginal then at 1:45 some idiot tries to hurt the roof team by putting it in front of the window! Had I been on the roof and some jerk moved my ladder like that we would be having a few choice words. The vent hole was real low.
Terrain, house orientation and blocked roads make truck placement hard. Without all the obsticles this could have been a quick knock.
The ladder was in an unsafe position (near the window and not level). The ladder was adjusted and made level, but was not rolled several feet at that time. We did not want to have the vent crew loose their orientation with the placement of that ladder. A hand line was in place for protection of the crew if fire broke out from that window and the crew needed to emergency evac. the roof. The building was laddered on sides A & B also using ground ladders and 105′ stick. Venting was also taking place on the other side of the building. The vent crew had the option to exit the roof using the other ladders.
Ahh.. from the cam angle it looks like the ladder was just outside of the window, this is why I said marginal, then moved directly over the window, This would have pissed me off if I was on the roof.
This is bad! I was there when it happened
