Fairly sound tactics employed here. The best has to be the rapid deployment of the cord reel at the 5.20 mark. Go get em chunky monkey!!!

Not real sure about useing the ariel to vent the windows on what looked like the (C) side in the start of the viedo. It may be a standard with some dept,s and work well but it looks like a expensive repair bill im the makeing, especially if theres no life hazard involved.

The life hazard is the members working in the second floor needing a vent, and egress. Sound tactic that is used over and over across the country – aggressive under staffed ladder company in operation…

Why those windows werent popped upstairs and more ground ladders thrown is beyond me. Looked like plenty of manpower.

all the front second floor windows were popped by the main ladder in the begining of the video, looks like maybe the blinds hanging still in the windows to the right side. Looks like pretty good job, wonder what the back of the house looked like?

One of the primary functions of a Truck Company is ventilation. Using the stick to vent the 2nd floor windows is a common practice amongst agressive Truck Company. If you are afraid you may scrape the paint on the rungs of your ladder or get some soot on it, and this could affect your points total at the next parade, you probably belong to a ladder company. TRUCK COMPANIES will understand what I’m saying, if you don’t understand it you probably need to grab a bottle of windex and shine the chrome wheels on your ladder truck….it could mean the difference between 1st and 2nd place!

The biggest safety issue I saw was the roof vent team working over the fire without airmasks in place. If you got them on your back put the darn thing on your face. The video doesn’t show them gaining access and I’m sure they sounded the roof before going on it, but how quickly would it fail under them? Chances have to be taken, but why stack the deck against you if you don’t have to?

I’m still kind of amazed that they had fire out the vent hole and nobody called for evacuation. Seems to be the trend these days.

    Good job!

It looks like first due engine is from Maywood, first due truck is from Hackensack. Aggressive fire attack and aggressive truck work by two first in companies from different departments. Pretty impressive results if you ask me. Would like to know if these two departments operate routinely together? Good job brothers.

this truck company has 3 firemen. Officer, ironsman, and chaffeur. The stick is used to take windows out due to the lack of firemen fighting the fire. In these tough economic times guess what , the apparatus will pay the price . In the first few minutes there was 2 engines, a truck, and rescue for a total manpower of 11 firemen. The guy above stating not to take windows with a stick probably has never been in the position to take windows ever. And for you safety guys who know more about safety vests than actual firefighting , TAKING A WINDOW WITH THE STICK IS THE SAFEST WAY. The fire also vented through the roof. Exactly what it should do. The line was opened and the fire went out saving the homeowners property. Also people reported trapped on arrival here.
