This video was taken on August 13 at a fire in the 11300 block of 128th Avenue in Kirkland, Washington.
Matt Phelps, Kirkland Reporter:
A fire destroyed a home and two vehicles Monday night on North Rose Hill in Kirkland. Firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze but the home and vehicles were completely destroyed.
A male resident in his 60s was taken to Evergreen Hospital with smoke inhalation. No firefighters were hurt and the fire’s cause is under investigation.
“When we got there the entire structure was on fire” said Kirkland Fire Battalion Chief Joe Sanford. “We tried to protect the exposures (surrounding area) first. We were also concerned about the structural stability.”
As a result, Sanford said that firefighters used the ladder truck to get above the home in order to spray water onto the blaze in a safe manner.

despite the annoying cameraman, not much the guys could do…this house is a loss
also do these guys have portable radios to communicate? this is 2012, we don’t really have to yell anymore.
Don’t see the big deal in the hydrant man and engineer yelling back and forth…they’re 100′ away from each other. Leave the radio free for IC.
I agree. No need to clutter up radio traffic with “Are you ready for water yet?” Responding units need size ups & the IC’s need to know who is coming in to the scene. Too many people use the radios on scene for talking, more should use them for listening… Just my $.02
Those chief buggies should be parked OUT OF THE WAY so other apparatus can have better access. Oh yea don’t forget about the hydrant. Hey the hydrant. Look, there is a hydrant. Hydrant over here hydrant over there. LOL
Hydrants here!! Get y’er hydrants!! One for 3 or two for 5!! Get’em while they’re wet!!
Kudos to dept for quick water.
