Was there a problem with door control before the line had water?

The truck crew probably assumed they had the line charged already, I know I did. The engine crew seemed to be a little lax. Cue the “The see more fire in a day comments”

The security door should have been left down until the engine’s line was charged and they were ready to advance. Fortunately, in this situation it appears to have not caused any significant problems and when the line was charged, much of te fire on the first floor was quickly knocked down. “8truck”, you didn’t mention what department you work for so I have no idea whether or not E-290 and L-103 “see more fire in a day” than you do.

Ya know, it still amazes me that in cities like New York, fires get such a big head start.
