Video from Ray Lekich of a fire around 4:00 Friday afternoon at 4909 Curly Hill Road in Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania (Bucks County).
Matt Coughlin, Phillyburbs.com:
Plumsteadville Fire Chief Brian Dubree said firefighters arrived to find a blaze in the basement of the home. They began to fight the flames, but as they worked their way into the basement they discovered a propane gas line had failed and the leaking gas was creating a torch-like fire. They backed out and fought the flames until the propane was turned off.
Dubree said the fire extended up into the first floor through the hollow wall construction of the older model home.

how about the guy walking around with no turnout gear and the radio on his hip literally walking up to the cellar door. who is the safety officer at this scene? and who let that guy that close with no turnout gear. especailly at a basement fire where the structure is extremely compromised because there is a gas fed fire at the foundation. WHAT WS GOING THREW HIS HEAD?!
He was the first chief O/S and I was using his gear.
Looks questionable at first, especially when it appears that the smoke is being pulled into the basement (may have been caused by fog pattern). But then steam conversion begins and it appears as if the crew is getting a good handle on the fire! Nice stop guys!!!!
The smoke being pulled into the basement was cause by my change in the pattern from straight stream to a semi fog.
“hey chief (guy in white helmet” how about giving the pipe to the first guy down the steps”
Was that Mike from Jersey Shore wearin a Nomex BB hat backwards?
Looks like a good job… I agree the dude in the blue jeans and no gear needs to go get his gear on… lead by example… Good smoke conditions and the boys got it… Strike Da Box! K
CLASS A HI EXPANSION FOAM PUMPED FROM THE ENTRANCE WOULD E VERY HANDY HERE.
Maybe the guy in jeans was not in gear but he seem to be doing more than the tool holding the haligan.
Guys just putting my input in, I was on the handline and there are 2 reasons why he didnt have gear on….1 was that he was the first arriving chief taking command, and the 2nd was because I was using it in the basement! He really didnt have a choice. I only used it because im the Captain with a neighboring company and I didnt have my gear with me. And as far as the propane fed fire, nobody knew it until a little into the fire.
I do have to say it was a great learning experience, the TIC worked GREAT and should be pulled on every single call (Alarm Systems, MVA’s, etc) along with your brain its one of the most useful tools.
There is no Reason for you to be on the fire ground with out gear. NONE
if you read what i said before I WAS USING HIS GEAR!
Nice stop boys, From the wildwood crew!!!!
