WTF! pipeman asks deck gun? for a room or two off! really! to long to run the line 1 min 38 seconds and whats up with the straps on the “pre-connects” … wastes time…Pre-connets are for quick deployment
1. 1 3/4 line run quickly (30 seconds or less) to the front steps
2. open the line and hit the porch to darken it down (10 seconds)
3. go to the front door and open the pipe work it right then work it left (20 -30 seconds) and game over…push in for hot spots and search. other companies arrive to walk in smoke…
4.and their load looks like a lot of kinks.
Train train and train some more on the basics! K and of course Strike Da Box! K
With the exception of the preconnects (I don’t like them either) They were almost spot on. I’ve used a deck gun or blitz monitor when short handed for 10 to 15 Seconds to darken down a fire and then move in with handlines to extinguish. It’s about absorbing BTU’s. And not every engine is staffed with 5 firemen as they are in the FDNY.
1. Confine the fire. The first handline was used to protect the exposure..although I would have ordered water put ON the exposure. This cut of horizontal spread to the adjoining homes. If you noticed, the second line crew checked for a Bravo side exposure before commiting to the attack.
2. Move in for extinguishment. Once the fire was darkened down they moved in to extinguish.
This was a trained crew fighting fire within THEIR SOG’s. They clearly had enough disipline to check with their officer to make sure that an interior attack was warrented and reasonably safe. This could have been an abandoned structure and not worth risking live to fight agressively. I just don’t know. It’s easy to monday morning quarterback these videos but I do agree that those round about loads are crap.
If you take another look I believe you will find that they are running a incarnation of the Hoffe hose load. I agree the straps are a little strange.
What are they afraid to do an interior attack? Knock down the porch and stretch it inside already! Not exactly what i’d call agressive
what a joke of a hose lay
When the video shows them flowing water while holding onto the pistol grip I stopped watching
Hey Sol,
FYI..
The pistol grip is just another TOOL which can assist
a limited manpower Fire Dept.
Now you’ve learned something in 2013.
I don’t see the logic in this statement, however I will say this: If a single fire fighter cannot control a hoseline by himself regardless of the size of the line and the individual, then they need better training.
The bundle looks like a roundabout load AKA Cleveland load, I don’t agree with the comments on the straps slowing deployment down, not a big deal, Detroit bundle is strapped together as well as several others. Whatever you use train on it
I’m with you Sol. Hey Oy teach me something. Protect the exposure by putting the house on fire out. Couple of front rooms off in a farely small house. Make the push.
Hey Scooter, transmit the box.
