A house already gutted by flames collapsed Friday afternoon while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which left two adult brothers dead.
Neighbors said the two men were inside the burning home in the 500 block of Seventh Street in German Township, Fayette County.
Neighbors identified the victims as James and Wilbur Shea. They described both as elderly and slow-moving, saying one brother recently had a stroke, which limited his movement.
“It was starting to deteriorate rapidly, so we did pull our crews out,” said Adah Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Ryan Huhn.
