Nick Martin Reinstated at Kentland; Will Have Disciplinary Hearing
Major Chauncey Bowers, spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire/EMS, confirms that, following legal proceedings, Kentland Volunteer Lieutenant Nick Martin has been reinstated. This comes more than 17 months after an incident at a house fire in Landover Hills. During that fire in Feburary, 2006, Martin was caught on video in a physical altercation with another firefighter.
A variety of sources familiar with this case, but not authorized to speak publicly, indicate that a judge ruled Lt. Martin did not receive due process when Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Chief Lawrence Sedgwick ordered his termination.
We are told Nick Martin will now have to go through a PGFD disciplinary hearing that is scheduled for this evening.
We have requested comment from the leadership at Kentland VFD and the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service. So far no one has returned our calls or emails.
