A cops work made easy: I am known for leaving my wallet, keys, cell phones, pagers and other personal items in our crew cars at work. I am sure some of you have even left your wallet stashed in the fire truck somewhere and forgot about it. But if you ever decide to join 200 other people and jump on a fire truck that’s headed to an emergency, let me give you one bit of advice. When you leave that fire truck, take your wallet with you.

Robert Smith didn’t. That’s why Smith is the only one under arrest so far for impeding Philly’s Ladder Tower 5 during the World Series celebration. Oh, did we tell you that Mr. Smith is himself a firefighter. Read more.

Assistant chief vanishes: Investigators want to find Glynn Johnson. The Los Angeles County assistant chief has apparently disappeared following the publicity about an incident at his home a week ago. The cops want to talk to Johnson about the beating of his neighbor’s puppy. Click here for the latest.

Funeral delayed for Dale City EMT: It may take days before Cecilia Turnbough’s son can return from a Navy ship so her funeral can be held. No word on autopsy results following the EMT’s death during Firefighter I training on Sunday. Sources indicate her PASS device did activate when she went into cardiac arrest inside the maze at the county training facility. There also did not appear to be any obvious equipment malfunction.

“Crime ridden” city wants to cut firefighters to bring in more cops: Controversy in St. Albans, VT as people take up sides over a plan to “reduce the full-time staff of 12 firefighters to just a handful of full-timers, and shifting the rest of the positions to part-time on-call employees”. WCAX-TV says its part of an effort to bring on more police officers.
