We have brought you a number of animal rescues lately, but possibly none more different and challenging then this story about Rocky, a 6-month old puppy.

The picture above shows how Rocky ended up early Saturday morning near his home in the eastern part of North Carolina’s Craven County. I am sure he was chasing or sniffing out something pretty darn interesting inside of that tree, but we don’t know what it was.

The job of getting Rocky out of this jam was left to the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department. Chief Jeremy Brown summed it up this way for Ken Buday of Havelock News:

“We’ve never been taught anything about extricating a dog from a tree. We’re good at cars, not at trees. There’s no textbook to tell you how to extricate a dog from a tree.”
