Dave Sheets is on the attack and the only thing he is discounting at the moment is that the fire at his furniture store in Lansing, Michigan was arson. Six weeks after the blaze investigators have made the determination the fire was set. Their only comment about suspects is, “We’re not ruling anybody out at this point.”
Discount Dave is talking about suspects, telling WLNS-TV’s Ann Emmerich, “I know when they rated that somebody burned it down, obviously the public is going to look at Dave Sheets. Well, that’s laughable, but anyway, people like to talk, I give them something to talk about.”

Sheets is clearly unhappy with the work of city fire marshals. He calls the fire department and the mayor’s staff incompetent and talks about being harassed. So Dave Sheets has hired his own investigative team.
But Discount Dave may not need to spend the money. He apparently has some theories of his own. Here are some of his other comments to the TV station:
“There’s many areas of this building, or certain areas of this building, these people haven’t even looked at. This is our fire department we’re looking at here. They haven’t looked at areas, that is shocking to me.”
“Look out, be ready, because I will have an announcement for you here, hopefully very soon. It won’t take my investigation as long as its taking these poor people. I feel sorry for them. They’re making me look bad. This is disgusting, it’s ridiculous.”
According to Kevin Grasha with the Lansing State Journal, Sheets suffered an anxiety attack at home when someone called to tell him about the fire. Sheets said he was hospitalized for three days.
