The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirms that Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson was arrested. The charges he faces have not been disclosed.
Johnson’s arrest follows news that the FBI is conducting multiple raids in Prince George’s County.
According to sources, the raids are taking place at the Government Center in Upper Marlboro and the homes of several county leaders. Two sources tell us County Executive Jack Johnson’s home and office were among those places being raided.
From WTOP Radio:
Johnson’s wife, Leslie, has also been taken into custody. Leslie Johnson ran unopposed for the County Council and was recently elected to represent District 6.
There is no word on the charges. An announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office is expected later Friday afternoon.
A source close to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore tells WTOP the investigation is linked to a developer who sought to involve Johnson in a land deal at the Greenbelt Metro station.
The investigation is also linked to the transfer of a residential property involving Johnson, the source says.
