A three-alarm fire swept through a building on Broadway containing a spa and a medical day care center for adults on Friday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of about 60 people, authorities said.

The fire began on the first floor, where the spa is located, after 2 p.m. and spread through the two-story building, said Lt. Derek Bastinck of the Fair Lawn police. He said 50 people from the day care center — many of them disabled or elderly, some in wheelchairs — and 18 people from the spa evacuated the building. No one was hurt, he said.
