Video from Matt Gregoire (sparkywfd) of Providence Fire Videos from a three-alarm house fire last Monday at 89 Johnson Road in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. One firefighter was treated for exhaustion. Investigators say the fire was caused by a wood stove. Here’s some of Matt’s description:

Heavy smoke was showing upon FD arrival. Heavy fire was discovered shortly after in the basement that was rapidly extending to the 1st floor. The fire eventually spread throughout the home and through the roof. A 2nd and 3rd alarms were transmitted to bring in tankers and manpower. The home was out of the hydrant district so portable tanks had to be set up.

Zachary Comeau, Milford Daily News:

According to Public Information Officer Melanie Blodgett-O’Toole, the fire was first reported around 1:50 p.m. after neighbors said they saw smoke coming from the back of the house. No injuries were reported and no one was in the house when the fire started, she said.

The fire was knocked down by 3:30 p.m., Blodgette-O’Toole said, but firefighters remained on the scene for about another hour as the building was still smoldering in some areas.

Since there were no fire hydrants in the area, the Uxbridge Fire Department had to call for mutual aid from Hopedale, Sutton, Upton, Mendon, Millville, Douglas, Northbridge, Masonville and North Smithfield, R.I., for additional tanker trucks and portable tanks, Blodgette-O’Toole said.
