A Marion woman was charged with attempted felony assault after firing a gun at a firefighter Saturday morning.
It happened in the 400 block of East Mark Street in Marion around 5:40 a.m. Saturday.
Marion fire officials said firefighters were responding to a report of an unauthorized burn.
Firefighters said that when they arrived on scene, Sheila Markley refused to let them put out the fire, saying she cursed at them and stood between the fire and hose.
According to the fire department, when firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire, Markley allegedly shot at them.
No firefighters were injured in the shooting.
