Firefighters say an Old Eureka Way apartment fire Saturday night started after a resident tried to make butane hash oil in one of the units, and now all eight residents of the building are without homes.
Fire Inspector Craig Wittner said Robert Lee Eade, 20, will be charged with illegal drug manufacturing and the reckless burning of an inhabited building, both of which are felonies.
Butane hash oil is a concentrated form of marijauna that’s “highly dangerous” to make and illegal in California, Wittner said.
