Todd South & Jim Norman, NorthJersey.com:

A tractor-trailer truck raising its bed to pour hot asphalt for a repaving job on Huyler Street on Monday snagged power lines overhead and pulled down a utility pole, sparking a smoky blaze that knocked out power to Main Street in neighboring Little Ferry and snarled traffic throughout the area, authorities said.

The blaze engulfed the truck and sent up a plume of thick smoke that could be seen miles away. The heat could be felt a half-block away as firefighters from Hasbrouck Heights, and borough police and officers from Moonachie and the Bergen County Police Department, and emergency workers from the borough and Little Ferry arrived at the fire scene. The Port Authority’s special chemical foam pump truck was dispatched as well.
