Harvey Eisner
I was very sorry to learn this morning about the death of Harvey Eisner the long-time editor of Firehouse Magazine. Harvey died last night due to complications of diabetes.
Harvey started with the magazine in the mid-1970s and became its editor-in-chief in 1982. Earlier this year he was designated editor emeritus of Firehouse. Harvey had a very long and successful run at Firehouse.
Compared to Harvey, I’m a relative rookie to the fire service media. Despite that, Harvey showed me great kindness through the years. I will always be grateful.
Below is an interview videographer Greg Guise and I did with Harvey for NFFF on Harvey’s excellent book about 9/11. Harvey was very proud of the book. If you’ve read it you know why. If you haven’t, make sure you get a copy. As you read it, please think of the dedication to the fire service of the man who created “WTC In Their Own Words”.
