The location of the residence is not served by fire hydrants and as a result, water needed to be brought to the fire scene by water tenders from several communities. Narrow streets also hampered the access of additional fire companies to the scene of the fire.

Due to the hidden location of fire within the walls, a 2nd alarm was transmitted at 11:27 am, and a third alarm was transmitted at 11:43 to obtain additional water tenders to supplement the available water already on the scene of the fire.

There was one reported minor injury, and that person was transported to Central DuPage Hospital for medical evaluation.
