Collision between fire engine & cop car responding to same fire in Omaha

An Omaha police officer suffered minor injuries early Friday when his cruiser was struck by an Omaha fire engine.
About 2:50 a.m., Officer Anthony Barnes and firefighters were on their way to a reported house fire near North 15th Street and Fowler Avenue when the accident occurred.
Police said Barnes was southbound on North 16th Street approaching Carter Boulevard. As he approached the intersection, police said, Barnes began to turn east onto Carter Boulevard and his cruiser was struck on the driver’s side by Engine 22, which was also southbound on North 16th Street.

The cruiser heading southbound on 16th Street was turning east onto Carter Boulevard when it was struck on the driver’s side by the truck continuing southbound.
The cruiser then struck a parked car, left the roadway and hit two chain-link fences before coming to a stop in a yard. Officer Anthony Barnes was taken to Nebraska Medicine for treatment. No firefighters were injured.
