Multi-alarm fire with mayday & people trapped in Ocean City, MD

A fire today (Tuesday) in apartments above De Lazy Lizard Brew Pub in Ocean City, Maryland (Worcester County) resulted in a mayday and at least three people injured, including two firefighters. The building used to be the home of Melvin’s Steak House. Above is a brief video from WRDE Coast-TV and below is video from our regular contributor Jeff Mould. We have a crew on scene of a large building fire in Ocean City. The blaze is reportedly at De Lazy Lizard Brew Pub building at Philadelphia Avenue and 1st Street. Police are asking for people to avoid the area at this time.

Authorities tell 47 ABC that the call came in around 10:00 AM, and had the flames contained to the building in around an hour. There were apparently people inside the building at the time of the blaze. Officials on scene tell 47 ABC’s Kelly Rule that three people have been taken from the fire to the hospital. Two are reportedly firefighters, and a third person suffering smoke inhalation. All injuries are apparently non-life-threatening.

Tuesday morning’s fire broke out at around 10 a.m. at De Lazy Lizard brew pub building at 1st Street and Philadelphia Avenue. Flames could be seen shooting out of the building. At least one firefighter and several other people were transported to the hospital. Additionally, one person had to be rescued from the building. There is no word yet on the extent of injuries.
