It would be hard to deny lightweight construction contributed greatly to the destruction of this building

I wonder how Frank Brannigan would have covered this fire in his book? Multiple failures of lightweight trusses were involved during the fire Saturday in Hays, Kansas. Even the home builders lobby would have a tough time denying this one. That’s because the fire destroyed Heartland Truss Inc, a manufacturer of roof and floor assemblies. The main building where the trusses are built at the Heartland Truss Plant was completely destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.

The large 200 foot by 112 foot building is “a complete loss,” according Ellis County Rural Fire Chief Dick Klaus, “including five forklifts inside.”
