Truck crashes into Centro bus in Syracuse, gets stuck

Multiple views, above and below, as a pickup truck goes airborne and becomes impaled inside the side of a Centro transit bus on January 19 in Syracuse, New York leaving eight people injured.

Video surveillance from inside and outside the bus shows the truck striking and getting stuck inside the bus around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19. Eight people were injured in the Park Street crash not far from Destiny USA, said the Syracuse Police Department.

Neil Brownell, the driver of the truck, saw a line of stopped vehicles on the off-ramp and tried to brake, said Sgt. David Sackett, a police spokesman. Brownell mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes — sending his truck off the road and into the bus, he said.
