Attention webmasters & bloggers: A new look for the NFFF widget.

Get the NFFF- Fallen Firefighter Widget 2 widget and many other great free widgets at Widgetbox! Not seeing a widget? (More info)

Many of our readers with their own websites and blogs have been supporting the efforts of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation by carrying the Foundation’s widget on their site. It has been a great tool to help honor fallen firefighters and get the word out about various NFFF programs. In my work with the Foundation I have seen the impact the widget has had in reaching a wider audience within the fire service. Thank you.

Based on feedback from many of you, webmaster Jenni McClelland has made some changes to the design of the widget. It also is now going to be used year-round to honor those we have lost. The new design (above) will require you to replace the code that you are currently using. Last week Jenni sent out the following message to those already carrying the widget:

We’d like to thank each of you for helping the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America’s fallen firefighters by posting the 2010 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend Tribute Widget on your website(s). Each day you are helping us raise awareness and pay tribute to fallen firefighters by having the NFFF Widget embedded on your site.

We are excited to announce that the 2010 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend Tribute Widget is now the National Fallen Firefighters Tribute Widget, which will run year-round. We’ve made improvements based on your feedback to allow for more flexibility in posting to blog websites and social media. In order to display these new improvements on your website, we will need you to replace the code you currently have on your website with new code. The new code can be found here: http://weekend.firehero.org/widget/   There are two sizes of the widget to choose from, 300 pixel x 250 pixel (Medium Rectangle) and the 140 pixel x 400 pixel (will fit on most side navigation). To get the new code, simply click on “Get Widget” tab at the bottom of the widget that you’d like to include. You will see that there are many new options/code posting the widget to your site and other social media.

Again, we thank you for supporting the mission of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to honor America’s fallen firefighters. You are playing an important role in helping us honor and remember – Thank You!

Of course, if you aren’t carrying the widget on your site, we would be honored if you would consider doing so. If you have any questions or comments send them to webteam@firehero.org.
