The chief of the Versailles Volunteer Fire Company in Versailles, Pennsylvania was removed from office Monday just hours after he was arrested in McKeesport having sex in a car with a 17-year-old girl. The department issued a statement about the incident on its Facebook page (see below).

Nick Matoney, WTAE-TV:

The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. at McKee’s Point Marina when an officer said he saw Aaron Powell, 46, apparently engaged in sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl.

Police said when they asked the girl how old she was, she said she was 18, but when they spoke to her mother they determined she was actually 17.

The girl’s mother also told police the teen and Powell have known each other for some time and he knows her real age.

Powell, who was the fire chief at Versailles Volunteer Fire Company, has been removed from his position and is no longer affiliated with the department, according to a post on the fire company’s Facebook pagE.

Shelly Bradbury, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

The arrest is apparently not Powell’s first tangle with the law.

A man with the same name and birthdate has faced five criminal cases, four in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, between 1990 and 2011, records show.

In 1990, he pleaded guilty to a felony count of receiving stolen property, according to court records. He was also charged with tampering with evidence in 2010, but the charges were later dropped.
