At least five are dead after a military plane crashed on Wednesday near the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport.
National Guard officials say nine Puerto Ricans were on board when a C-130 military cargo plane crashed in Port Wentworth at 11:28 p.m.
“It is highly doubtful that anyone survived the crash,” said Chatham County Coroner Dr. Bill Wessinger. He confirmed two bodies were recovered at the scene.
Surveillance video from a nearby business shows video of the cargo plane taking off and nose-diving before a cloud of thick black smoke appeared.
