Firefighter Chris Higgins killed in Maryland house fire

Master Firefighter Christopher Higgins has been officially identified as the firefighter who collapsed and died during a house fire Saturday evening in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The 23-year career firefighter in Montgomery County was 46-years-old. Higgins was married and the father of two children.
During a Sunday afternoon press conference, Montgomery County Fire Chief Corey Smedley says Higgins drove the first due ladder track to the fire in West Laurel, a community west of I-95 in adjacent Prince George’s County. Chris Higgins was assigned to the Burtonsville Station.
