A Binghamton, New York firefighter is dead and two others injured after a three-alarm fire last (Wednesday) night downtown. Initial reports from Billy Goldfeder that a mayday was called after a collapse.
Mayor Jared M. Kraham statement:
On Wednesday night, a member of the Binghamton Fire Department was killed while battling a major fire in the area of 1 Main St. downtown.
The firefighter was transported from the scene to Wilson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two other Binghamton firefighters were injured. They are being treated at Wilson Hospital and are currently in stable condition.
The name of the deceased firefighter will be released shortly.
The investigation is ongoing. The Binghamton Fire Department is being assisted on the investigation by the Binghamton Police Department and New York State Fire Investigators through the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
