WHDH-TV has some new information on the “test run” of the Provincetown Fire Department’s ladder truck on Sunday morning that ended with the truck rolling over multiple times. Here are excerpts from the story:
“The current thinking is that there may have been speed involved,” said Staff Sgt. Warren Tobias, of the Provincetown Police Department.
The roll-over occurred at the intersection of Route 6 and Snail Road Sunday morning while the truck was said to be out for a road test with 21-year-old volunteer firefighter Elias Martinez.
The truck rolled over more than once, according to investigators, and Martinez wasn’t the only one inside.
“There was an unauthorized passenger in the vehicle with him,” said Town Manager Sharon Lynn.
Lynn said the passenger was a female friend of the driver.
While she is thankful no one was hurt, Lynn said there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered.
