The audio from the Sofa Super Store fire was released late Friday afternoon. We should warn you that on these recordings you will hear the final words of some of the 9 firefighters who died on June 18th. The lead of the paper’s story may be all that some people want to know:
Communications tapes that included final words from some of the nine firefighters trapped in the deadly the June 18 Sofa Super Store fire were released today.
Around 7:30 p.m., one firefighter can be heard saying in a muffled voice: “Mayday! Car 1. Please tell my wife that”
“Go ahead,” comes the response.
“I love you,” the firefighter says clearly.
