Police say Wisconsin firefighter was driving drunk & with no license when fire truck hit car

A fire truck from the Village of Sussex, Wisconsin hit a parked car at a Memorial Day event on Monday. It brought the arrest of the firefighter driving the rig on charges he was drunk behind the wheel and was driving with an expired license,

Christina Palladino, WISN-TV:

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office responded, but they called in the State Patrol because of a potential conflict of interest since the village of Sussex contracts out their police services to the Sheriff’s Office.

The responding trooper could smell alcohol on the firefighter’s breath. The firefighter blew a 0.08 and failed several field sobriety tests.

The fire chief released this statement to WISN 12 News saying in part, “We do not tolerate inappropriate behavior by any member. We support the legal process. I want to confirm we are very proud of our dedicated members and the service to the community that they have provided the past 94 years. This is a personnel matter and I’m not at liberty to say any more.”
