A Blast From the Past. STATter 911 Gives You A Look at Firefighting in Bowie, MD From 35 Years Ago.

Click the picture above to see what I hope will be the first in a regular feature on STATter 911 (time and news permitting). I plan to start streaming videos from the STATter 911 archives showing firefighting and EMS of days gone by. Some, like the one above, will just be video. Others will be complete stories of issues, fires and other incidents that made the news.
This video was originally silent film shot by a Channel 9 photographer in July of 1972. There is no information with it, so I assume it was something he happened upon while working on another story.
What I can tell from looking at the film, is that it was shot in Prince George’s County and the fire engine is from Bowie. It looks like the fire is on Route 50 (or possibly Route 301). If you recognize anyone in the film, let me know.
