DC Fire & EMS handle death of NBC’s Tim Russert

Word is just getting out that NBC’s Tim Russert has died at the age of 58. Russert was the network’s Washington Bureau Chief and moderator of “Meet the Press”.

STATter 911 first heard from sources around 3:00 PM that Tim Russert was taken in cardiac arrest to Sibley Hospital in Washington and didn’t make it.

While not acknowledging who the patient was, DC Fire & EMS spokesman Alan Etter confirmed the call for NBC’s Washington Bureau at 4001 Nebraska Avenue came in a 1:41 PM. Paramedic Engine 31 and Medic 21 reported on the scene around 1:44 PM. The patient was in cardiac arrest on the arrival at NBC and a co-worker had begun CPR.

Sources tell us medics shocked Russert three times.

Transport to Sibley Hospital was at 2:07 PM.

According to sources Russert was pronounced dead at 2:32 PM.

While the response times look quite fast, Paramedic Engine 20 on Wisconsin Avenue near Tenley Circle is just a couple of blocks from NBC’s studios. Paramedic Engine 20 was already on a call in the 3300 block of Wisconsin Avenue. That call had been dispatched at 1:21 PM. Paramedic Engine 31 is located on Connecticut Ave. just off of Nebraska Avenue.
