Fireman’s Fund – Supporting Safer Communities: A National Firefighter Survey
Washington, DC regional survey results
At 11:00 this morning Chuck Kavitsky, chairman of Fireman’s Fund, will join DC Fire & EMS Chief Dennis Rubin at Engine 3 on Capitol Hill to discuss results of what is being called one of the largest surveys of the American fire service. Fireman’s Fund says nearly a third of all departments took part in the survey done by the market research firm Ipsos Public Affairs.
Fireman’s Fund has the details from Supporting Safer Communities: A National Firefighter Survey on its website. The survey confirmed the negative impact of the economy on fire department’s across the country. It found the top challenges facing departments are lack of budget; staffing, recruiting and retaining qualified firefighters; old or outdated equipment, gear and apparatus.
On its website Fireman’s Fund has the national results along with regional findings from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington, DC.
